Smoke testing refers to using non-toxic, theatrical smoke emitting devices to measure building pressure air flow patterns on plumbing leaks, miscellaneous odour vectors, and to quickly identify where hidden odours originate from every time. Smoke is pressurized into the drain pipes or ductwork to identify leaks and cracks typically hidden from the visual inspection. Airflow patterns between rooms can also be identified to trace odour and contaminants from different areas of the building. Smoke testing can be performed in large automotive repair garages to test exhaust system efficiencies or small smoke pencil tests for testing room by room airflow at doors or electrical outlets.
